Wesley Robert - 8 Months Old

Aw, this sweet Wesley - he's still just the sweetest, most easy going baby.  Despite my best efforts to freeze time and hold him so tight that he stops growing, he reached eight months old last week.

He was a little clingy to Mama this month, but I didn't mind.  Mama (or Daddy, or Ms Therlon) just does a lot one-handed. We've also entered the 'stranger danger' phase, and when new people look at him too long Wesley cries major tears. It breaks my heart - but more for the sweet ladies who just want to elicit a laugh and instead get total rejection!

He's starting to become more mobile, so gone are the days when you can just set-it-and-forget-it.  He'll roll and scoot (backwards) all around the floor. Although he can get up on his hands and knees, no signs of crawling (yet!)

At the end of the month, we committed to a big move (that we're still working through). After 8 months of sleeping in our closet, James (while I traveled and couldn't interfere) moved Wesley to his crib in his room.  He put up quite the protest, but he's settling in now.  He still wakes a couple of times for nightmare snuggles or his paci, and with our rooms clear opposite corners of the house it's a real pain in the rear. Part of me wants to move him back, but another part of me knows this is a great time to sleep train.  I just dread it.... :(

Still no teeth for Wes - we are shocked! So much drool, a little more cranky pants this month, and everything goes in his mouth.  Where are his teeth!  Poor boy loves to run anything along his gums, so we expect them any day.

So here we go -  his eight month stats!

Wesley's Measurements:
  • Weight: 17 lbs 6 oz  (So he's gained over pound in a month! Makes up for no weight gain in Month 7)

At 8 Months Old,  Wesley...

...Still drinks 5 breastmilk meals a day, but we're  pushing toward 4 now that he's eating more real food. Only purees, but at least he'll eat most anything pureed we put in front of him.  He likes the  dissolving teething biscuits, too, but any other types of finger food leads to gagging.

…Sleeping pretty well at night, despite crying for us on average of once a night (sometimes twice). I know we should let him cry and learn to put himself back to sleep, especially as veteran parents. But hey, at least he's in his crib!!  He naps roughly 3 times a day, and one is usually a marathon nap.  I can tell when he's getting sleepy as his gently scratches his ear and cheek.  (the absolute sweetest....)

...Wears 9 month clothes and 6-12 months, with 6-9 months quickly going into the donation bin.  Still size 3 diapers.  He's just so long in the waist!

…Loves lots of things: cold water (looooooves to drink cold water from the sippy cup); grabbing hair or anything on your plate; peekaboo; when Daddy tickles his thighs; the jumperoo (he can jump so high!); swinging on the playground

…Not loving: the thought of an unknown person holding him; being miles from his Mama at night in his nursery

Month Eight - We love you sweet, boy!
