Field Trips with Miss M and W

Getting towards the end of the school year now, and both Maryn and Wesley had field trips (that Mama got to attend!)

Maryn and the 1st and 2nd grade class at IGA took the bus down to Albany, GA (no short trip!) to visit the Flint River Aquarium and Planetarium. They would not let the parents ride the bus (thank goodness) and so I followed along, on the country roads, and enjoyed an audiobook (Beth Moore's beautiful new memoir).

The kids (and parents) had a great time!  A biologist brought real reptiles for all the kids to see and touch, we toured the aquarium and learned more about river life, we got lost and ended up walking a mile along the river (which turned out to be a nice and pretty walk), then learned about the stars in the planetarium.

I always love getting to see our kiddos in their element, and also see these wonderful teachers in action (we are blessed with fantastic teachers).  We have a sweet little girl, and I love that she has such sweet friends in a warm and supportive environment!

The next week Wesley got to visit the Strawberry Patch with his friends. Our poor local growers have been struggling this season with odd weather, varying temps, sporadic rain - not good for the berries! I was surprised - yet thrilled - when they allowed our preschool to visit one weekday.  We loaded up!

The farm has a bunch of turkeys that followed the kids around everywhere.  Surprised several of the daddies in attendance didn't try to shoot them.

This Preschool has been a blessing to us for many years now.  Wesley's PreK teachers make quite the team, and he's learned so much AND loved so much this year.  Can't believe we're getting close to graduations and goodbyes. I'm not ready!!!!

Wesley's Big Week + Preschool Days

Goodness, it's good to be a preschooler.  There is just so much fun and excitement, all the time!  Take Wesley's last week - he had THREE events: playday and Easter egg hunt, visit from the trash truck, and visit from the petting zoo.  (It was also "V" week so Wes sported his "visor" one day.  He said no one knew what a visor was in class except him, haha)

It is very exciting when the trash truck comes along, and living in town we also now seek out the lawn trimmings truck.  Wesley loves to watch them pick up the sticks and leaves.  (He also works tirelessly in our own yard to make sure it stays clean!)

Our preschool teachers - who are THE BEST - send out at least 30 pictures every Friday.  As individual texts to the group text.  I've learned not to panic anymore when my watch starts to buzz frantically at 12:15 on Friday.

Couple of more sweet and funny things about Wesley right now, as this most fun age.  First, he loves Perler beads and will sit for hours playing with them. He also loves to color with Ms. Therlon, and works very hard to make it perfect.

He also loooooooves the Wednesday night suppers at the church. Old Times Buffet caters and he can't get enough of it.

He also will not miss the Lego hour at the Library.  He and Ms. Therlon go every week, and they'll save his Lego empire from week to week (which includes a jail, among other things).

Just a few more funny pics of this wild and crazy dude that I found on my phone. You just never know what he's going to get into :)

Goodness, Wesley, you're making me all emotional as I watch you grow up and know you're the last little Sasser to be in this sweet, special age.  You're just so much fun!!
