There is a big difference between 2 and 2.5, and it amazes me how much JB changes each day. Do I say that every update? I do, because it's true. I remember a few months ago that I wrote JB had very few words. Now JB repeats everything you say and speaks in sentences and phrases!! A couple of months ago he was in diapers. Now he'll run off to the bathroom by himself and run back into the room when he's done his business. He remembers things, too, and can remind you of things discussed a few days prior.
JB has done very well with the transition to the new home. Dare I say he gets a little more flexible the older he gets? We've only had a couple of instances in the beginning where he asked to go to his "other home", and he asks about White Hall Tavern sometimes for dinner. He told me Isla would be at his new school (broke my heart), but also tells everyone excitedly about his new school and new teacher, Ms. Nee Nee. Now he frequently tells me he wants to go to his "new house" when we're out and about. He loves the land, his room, the playroom, and the porches. He also loves to run back and forth between his room and sissy's room through the Jack-n-Jill bathroom. (He normally does this naked - the boy loves to streak!)

Words we typically use to describe JB: sweet, handful, smart, rascal, ball-of-energy, cheeky, funny, loud. He can throw a tantrum pretty quickly if he's tired or not getting his way. This past month he's gotten very acquainted with his new time-out chair, but has also started to curb some naughty behavior now that he realizes we all mean business. JB doesn't just say "no" he says "no, no, no, no" for added emphasis. Maryn was squealing at Sunday lunch the other day and JB yelled "No, no, Sissy, people twying to EAT!" in the loudest voice you can imagine. Wonder where he learned that phrase?? :) He also greats his sister with "Hey Sissy!!" every morning when we go into her room. Such a sweetie.
Some things that JB loves: cereal bars, fruit (especially oranges and pears), cauliflower, sauteed spinach, shrimps, pancakes, puffs (if we spell p-u-f-f-s in front of him he knows what we're talking about. genius child??), hot milk (which he calls "hot dilk" even though he can say his m's), cold water, chasing Daddy, being chased by Daddy, rough housing, "driving" the car, dinosaurs, tractors, school buses, his little sister (who he calls "Ma-wyn", but mostly "Sissy"), nursery rhymes, singing/yelling songs, working with his tools, colored bath water, Peppa Pig, snuggling in our bed in the morning, all his grandparents, and his Mama and Daddy. In JB's ideal world his entire family would be together at all times at his "new house". He's a little home body who loves his people.
JB doesn't like: almost all meat, hair washing, hot bath water, leaving the park, hitting his screen-time limit for the day, time out, the three minutes after Mama or Daddy drop him off at school or the church nursery, using an inside voice.
We love you sweet James Benjamin. Our little 2-and-a-half year old son. Keep doing what you're doing, even when you make us crazy, because we love every little thing about you.
