Trip to the Farm

When JB attended a different Preschool we got to visit the Meadows Chase Farm in Spring 2016 and 2017.  I posted pictures here and here - and he looks SO LITTLE.

Our preschool took a field trip there this year, meaning Maryn and Wesley got to tour and meet all the animals.  You better believe it brought back memories!

Maryn has made such sweet little friends in her class this year, particularly the 2 other girls in her class. They are all besties.

Wesley stayed closed by my side most of the trip, as the animals were quite friendly and he did not like the sudden sniffs, licks or headbutts.

Wesley did get very excited about the chickens and worked very hard to give them his bread.  Since there were 100 kids running around with food, they were not as eager to eat from him hand as he had hoped.

Since I'm feeling all nostalgic here...same boots, same mama, different little farmboy.  :)  (Wesley is actually in my belly in the first pic - and now he's nearly too big for my hip!)

Gimme all the field trips and adventures with these kiddos. They are at a great age to explore and I love every second.  Wesley still has a couple more years of Preschool and you bet I'll be at every trip!

Mother's Day 2021

These kiddos - my greatest pride and joy!  I absolutely adore being a mother and I hope they know how much that is true.  

We had a Mother's WEEK celebration this year, starting with the children's preschool program. The kids all sang very well and gave me the sweetest homemade gifts.

On Sunday morning we went to church and I appreciated the prayers and blessings for all mothers, women acting as mothers, and women hoping to be mothers. They followed the service with a Mom-mosa and coffee brunch.

After a crazy busy and hectic country club brunch, we rested a bit and prepared for THE BIG SHOW. The kids had prepared us for weeks that they were planning a big Mother's Day show and that we should dress up and come "fancy".    They hosted the show in Gardner's yard and we enjoyed lots of singing, dancing and talent numbers.

We are some lucky Mamas to get blessed with these children, a designated day, gifts, AND a show!  They kids put on a magnificent performance and we loved (and laughed) the entire time.

We got to FT with our special Grandmothers, too, wishing Grammy and Gia a wonderful day.  We ended the weekend with lots of smiles and warm hearts.  

Atlanta Weekend with Family and Friends

It had been a while since we took the whole family to Atlanta (though James and I had gone a couple of times for work and play).   But when our youngest nephew turns TWO you make sure you're there!  We celebrated baby Christopher, who is no longer a baby but I will always call him that.  

It's always a fun time when these kiddos get together. Very little time for pictures because they're running around all over the place!

While everyone loved the earth movers in the front lawn, one particularly blonde boy could not get enough of them. He was on and off, on and off, constantly exploring all the parts and getting grease all over his cute outfit and on his hands.

I love that we got one really good picture of Gia and her grandbabies! We try every trip, but it's hit or miss.

Not only is Christopher now a big two year old, but he also won't  be the baby of the Sasser family much longer!  We learned that he and Addison will have a little BROTHER this Fall!  Another baby boy for Gia (who loves her girls, but also adores the boys, being a boy mama herself).

After naps we had dinner at the restaurant right by PDK airport, watching the jets and smaller planes take off and land throughout dinner.

The next morning we went to our favorite Atlanta breakfast place call R Thomas, affectionately referred to as "The Bird Place" (because of their birds outdoors).  The place was totally empty and we had the place to ourselves, and of course - on that quiet trip - the children decided to behave themselves flawlessly the entire time. No one there to witness their great table manners.  

We headed from there to our old stompin' grounds to play on the park, forcing the children to hear us reminisce about our 5 years in Peachtree Hills and all our fun memories of JB and Maryn's babyhood. 

After the park we headed to our dear friend's house to spend lunch and the afternoon.  We've seen all these kiddos grow up before our eyes, and it's so fun to watch them reconnect after months, like they're best friends who see each other every day!

So we can all sit here and cry about how quickly (too quickly) our children grow up.... I mean... they were babies just two years ago!!!   <sob>

Gia came that night and babysat so we could get a night out.  I don't have a good picture because we spent most the time catching up, enjoying some amazing sushi, drinking wine, and living our best big city life.

Spring Break in SSI

When it (sadly) became apparent to us that we would have to cancel our usual Texas trip during Spring Break, my parents suggested that they come to us and meet at the beach. GREAT IDEA!  We picked one of our favorites, Saint Simons, and enjoyed a week with them.  

This crew (all of them!) loves a beach.  I think we strolled down to the water every morning and every night. 

On the first day together we took a dolphin tour through the sound.  The kids enjoyed birding with Grammy and Gran Gran, and we did a lot of passes around the ill-fated vessel that they are still trying to remove from the harbor.

We enjoyed a BBQ lunch at one of our favorites (Southern Soul), of course getting Brunswick stew because, hey, it's a local delicacy!

We spent one morning exploring neighboring Jeckyl Island, walking the beach, shoveling along the way (Wesley), and learning about the area.  

Although it disappointed the entire crew (particularly Maryn!) that we couldn't get into the Turtle Hospital, we still got to enjoy our picnic outside and enjoy the beautiful day.  JB made friends with a squirrel who shared his lunch :)

One place we visited this trip that we had not before: the Fort Frederika National Monument. The kids (along with Gran Gran) completed quite the scavenger hunt across the monument to earn their badges from NPS. We had a blast! 

Charles Wesley preached from this area, which now boasts both a Wesley church AND a Wesley tree. Of course we had to stop and get some pictures with our favorite Wesley :)

Grammy and Gran Gran left on  Friday while we left the following Saturday. To say the Friday felt a little blue is an understatement!  So we made sure to keep it chock full of sun and swimming.  Even though it was waaaaaay too cold for Mama.  Our old gal Enda joined us, too.

We wrapped up our week with dinner OUT - still something that we're getting used to after so many months of the pandemic! I tried to get some cute departing shots, but my crew was over it. :)

So, SO thankful for a wonderful week of memories. This year, just like last year, is flying by - and these kiddos are changing every day!  It meant the world that we go so much fun and sun with Grammy and Gran Gran.  Until next time, St. Simons!
