Fun times with the McLeod Family

The McLeod family came down to visit us, spending the weekend at the new place and in our new community.  Fortunately, it's not too too much further, as we've gotten used to having them so close by (to Dublin) in Perry!  

The kids took immediately to playing and running and enjoying each other's company.  We had some great meals, enjoyed some pretty weather, enjoyed (well, kids enjoyed) a trampoline park when the weather turned wet, and ultimately relaxed and reconnected after a long time apart.

Oh, and the Mamas enjoyed some sparkling rose, too :)

We went on a "long" hike Sunday morning (not even that long but the kiddos complained the entire time!) before we said goodbye to them.  Hoping it's not another many months before we're hanging out again!

And also can't wait until we're hosting them IN OUR NEW HOME!!!  I know we've got another several months, but I cannot wait.

(And, nothing to do with the story or weekend, but love our Enda girl.  She's still hanging in there!)

Lake Weekend to End the Summer!

We almost always end our August with a trip to visit the McLeod family at the lake.  In fact, I have pictures from the past several years on this very same weekend!  We didn't get too many pictures this last trip because the kiddos were all over the place, but I did capture some sweet memories.

First, a boat ride all around the lake on Saturday morning, enjoying the not-so-terribly-hot temps and the cloud cover.

The boys got in some fishing throughout the weekend. 

Wesley and Lily were goobers together, playing with toys, sharing snacks, making funny faces.  

Maryn and Lily had a blast together, too. Becca said that Lily had been waiting for a girl for "girl things", and Maryn happily complied! 

And then these boys - just the best of friends.  They can pick up right where they leave off each and every time!

Of course, because I just love to recreate photos, I bribed the littlest guy for some photos.  This same weekend 4 years ago we took our last trip as a family of four to the lake.  I looked about to pop (but actually had a month left!)  I can't believe that big ole belly is now this cutie patootie who we adore so much.  

It feels like we've officially ended summer. It may still be hot, but we're in the full swing of school, getting ready for Fall, and planning for trips and events trying to figure out what to expect the next couple of months as the pandemic and Delta variant range on.  With the crazy world right now, it's super special to spend the great time with friends and forget about problems and uncertainty :)

Atlanta Weekend with Family and Friends

It had been a while since we took the whole family to Atlanta (though James and I had gone a couple of times for work and play).   But when our youngest nephew turns TWO you make sure you're there!  We celebrated baby Christopher, who is no longer a baby but I will always call him that.  

It's always a fun time when these kiddos get together. Very little time for pictures because they're running around all over the place!

While everyone loved the earth movers in the front lawn, one particularly blonde boy could not get enough of them. He was on and off, on and off, constantly exploring all the parts and getting grease all over his cute outfit and on his hands.

I love that we got one really good picture of Gia and her grandbabies! We try every trip, but it's hit or miss.

Not only is Christopher now a big two year old, but he also won't  be the baby of the Sasser family much longer!  We learned that he and Addison will have a little BROTHER this Fall!  Another baby boy for Gia (who loves her girls, but also adores the boys, being a boy mama herself).

After naps we had dinner at the restaurant right by PDK airport, watching the jets and smaller planes take off and land throughout dinner.

The next morning we went to our favorite Atlanta breakfast place call R Thomas, affectionately referred to as "The Bird Place" (because of their birds outdoors).  The place was totally empty and we had the place to ourselves, and of course - on that quiet trip - the children decided to behave themselves flawlessly the entire time. No one there to witness their great table manners.  

We headed from there to our old stompin' grounds to play on the park, forcing the children to hear us reminisce about our 5 years in Peachtree Hills and all our fun memories of JB and Maryn's babyhood. 

After the park we headed to our dear friend's house to spend lunch and the afternoon.  We've seen all these kiddos grow up before our eyes, and it's so fun to watch them reconnect after months, like they're best friends who see each other every day!

So we can all sit here and cry about how quickly (too quickly) our children grow up.... I mean... they were babies just two years ago!!!   <sob>

Gia came that night and babysat so we could get a night out.  I don't have a good picture because we spent most the time catching up, enjoying some amazing sushi, drinking wine, and living our best big city life.
