Easter Egg Drop

"Did they really drop eggs out of a helicopter?" Many people had that reaction to the pictures we posted on social media.  But, yes, YES THEY DID, and it was awesome (for most of us).

Got to brag on our little town - they do many cool things for families and kids.  Last Saturday many churches hosted an Easter Egg Drop at the county recreation park.  As children and families gathered the pastors led a devotional and music.  Promptly at 10:30AM the 5-and-under children started to surround the perimeter of a football field to wait for the drop.  JB entertained himself by running up and down a little hill, while Maryn investigated the contents of various diaper bags and purses around her (fortunately people are so friendly here!)

Then the helicopter started to circle the field, getting lower and lower (and louder and louder) until we could actually feel the wind from the propellers.  From the helicopter two people (not the pilot!) threw out bags and bags of eggs onto the field.  JB was mesmerized!  Sissy was terrified!

Once the helicopter flew off the kids ran towards the center to grab the eggs. There must have been thousands - no one had to compete for eggs!  JB quickly filled up his basket and also helped his (still trembling) sister gather a few for her basket.

After the egg drop, JB enjoyed the bouncy house, slides, and wanted to ride the train (but Maryn was clear - no way, Jose.) We migrated to the playground where the kids happily played until the helicopter flew over to go drop the eggs for the big kids.  Cue the tears from little sister!!!

JB spent nearly an hour in the afternoon carefully opening every egg to show me his treasure (sweet tarts, tootsie rolls, smarties).  So much fun.
