James mentioned High Falls State Park along the route, and of course I jumped at it. Back in our early days of dating/marriage, we made it our mission to visit as many National and State parks as we could. It's been while, but how can you not take advantage when they're so close?
(Sidenote: prior to the state park, we visited another Georgia landmark - Honey Boo Boo's house!! James wouldn't let me take a picture, so you can get mad at him that this wasn't a documented, sharable moment on the blog…)
Since the park didn't have food, we first had to scout out some grub. Fortunately the teeny tiny community had a cafe in the gas station (with a couple of deep fryers). You can't go wrong with anything on those plates.
During the early afternoon, we meandered around the Falls. A really pretty part of Georgia, and to think it's only 45 minutes outside of Atlanta??
So many local-yocals did not take this sign seriously, but you better believe I was extra careful (and wanting to yell at the Mamas down below for letting their kiddos play in the rapids!!)
Our hike around the Falls marked the first time this year I complained, "UGH, it's hot". We hit 90 degrees, so summer is officially upon us. Get ready for lots of sweaty, red-faced Sassers on our blog!

Oh wow, that place looks gorgeous!!! And...very tempting to swim in as well. Way to resist. :)
ReplyDeleteNo Honey Boo Boo? Man, James, what a downer. At least you had a really beautiful was to spend the afternoon if you were kicked out of your house! Hope that adventure is going well!
