I always recommend to people (especially taking kids) that they hit up the Waco Zoo and Mayborn Museum when they go to the Silos. I'm really proud of these two institutions in Waco. So well done, so beautiful, so much fun. We go every time we're in Waco (it helps that the grandparents keep a membership!)
Here we go, tons of pictures to document our 2019 trips!
Our second full day we headed to the
Mayborn Discovery Center on Baylor Campus, especially due to some Spring storms that demanded an indoor activity. They always have a traveling exhibit, and this time we experienced the World of Eric Carle. We're big fans of his work, so the kids loved it.
Then we walked through JB's favorite part of the museum: the Mammoth site. (It's a very well done small scale replica of the actual site in Waco, but next trip we decided JB may enjoy the real bones, in all their glory.)
Wesley did not enjoy this part of the museum. He found the glass floor very unnerving, and poor guy had a hard time maneuvering around it. It made us laugh so much!
Then on to the discovery rooms! Music, electricity, building, bubbles, water - lots to explore.

We waited until Thursday to go to the zoo, since the weather at the beginning of our week turned super cold. Although, by Thursday, the hot and humid weather returned... #welcometoTexas It made for a warm and sunny trip, but it meant the animals were lazy and lounging in the sun (easy to see!)
Wesley is slightly obsessed with fish, so we spent a lot of time looking, pointing and talking about the fish. Fortunately they have multiple aquariums.
The big kids had their favorites they wanted to see at the zoo. JB set his heart on the bald eagle, and Sis had a long list: meerkats, lemurs, orangutans, and otters. Fortunately we saw them all!
My dad had the brilliant idea of taking a picnic to the zoo, based on last year's challenge of getting hungry, tired kids home without a meltdown (or car nap). This left a lot of time for playing, too, which the kids enjoyed.
And for Mama to attempt some group pictures...always fun... :)
Love all these Waco adventures! And the smiles on these sweet faces. Everyone had a great time.
