Fun Day at the Georgia National Fair

The Sassers took their first family trip to the Georgia National Fair this past weekend, and it did not disappoint!  Lots of barnyard animals, fried and roasted fair food (including corn and turkey legs, my fav!), carnival rides, and good people watching.  The day was gorgeous, although still a little warm (come on Fall temps!)

The McLeods met us there and the boys were inseparable.  And hard to keep up with.  How are they so fast on their tiny little legs?

JB rode his first ride (a bee, fitting because he is obsessed with The Bee Movie right now), and loved it.  He wanted to ride a few more - including "that big wheel" that he pointed to all day - but, sadly, he was too short.  (I've already used this for leverage at every meal: "if you eat your meat, you'll grow tall enough to ride the Ferris Wheel next year!!" )

The kids really enjoyed the animals, and both were brave enough to feed and pet sheep, cows, and bunnies.  The sheep particularly amused Maryn, who squealed when they nosed her hand.  JB surprised me when he asked to ride the horse, and even cried when it was time to get off!  (He's come a long way from his timid 2 year old self...)  They made him take off his cowboy hat to ride, which probably meets some OSHA regulation (but makes absolutely no sense to me - doesn't a cowboy need his hat??)

We did sneak Sissy on the Carousel. They let us on but I believe we were supposed to sit on the bench.  She would not have it, and insisted on the horse.  I held onto her tightly and she LOVED it.

Speaking of, Maryn was on the RUN at the fair, and I struggled to keep up with her.  I'm so glad that we lugged around the big double stroller because our kids wanted to sit in it approximately 5 minutes of the 5 hour event.  At least it has drink holders and storage for all our crap necessities.

Such a fun day!!  We're already planning to make a trip or two next year so that we can see (and eat) even more.
