Our Red Headed Sweetheart!

A sweet shout out to our special girl!  Miss Maryn celebrated a couple of things this month worth recognizing. And not just that she fact that she's still willing to match with her Mama :)

First, her annual dance with her Daddy, where she got to dress up and enjoy some special time with James (her twin).

Second, Maryn's cute story - about Squishmellows at school - won her classes' Georgia Author's contest!  We got to celebrate her at the school ceremony to honor all the classroom winners and enjoy her story. While she didn't win the overall 2nd grade prize, we're still proud of her creativity and effort.

We just adore this little red headed girl, and proud of how she's growing and learning and loving life. She brings a lot of love and joy to the family!

Kicking off 2024!

We kicked off 2024 with several busy weekends and lots of time with friends and family - a great way to start of a new year. We met the other Sassers at the Farm and Ben came and bought an enormous amount of fireworks for the kiddos (and adults) to enjoy. We had a blast!

We got hit with a freak winter storm (no snow, just wind and tornadoes) which closed school and caused a little anxiety with the kiddos (and dog).  Everything was fine, thank goodness, and we had a lot of together time and craftivity.

The Elementary School celebrated "80 days left of school" and the Primary School celebrated "100 days of school". So much fun!

We visited Fort McAllister State Park with some friends and had a great time on the fort.

JB has been doing a lot of fishing and having fun with all his new tackle, the reel holder for his bike, and good friends who love the water as much as he does. James bought a fryer because, let's the honest, that's just the best way to eat all this fresh fish!

And Wesley keeps losing his teeth!!!  I am SO NOT READY for his sweet baby face to change, but I know it's all part of his growing up.

Wesley has also enjoyed so many birthday parties!  Lots of trips to Defy and other fun places.

James and I enjoyed an adult evening at the Main House, listening to a fabulous jazz singer and supporting the Savannah Music Festival.  Hoping for more of these in the future!  We need the culture!

Our Enda girl celebrated two things in January:  first, her 12th birthday!  and second, her Golden Bone - Dog of the Month award at the Ford.  :)

We ended the month with the most fantastic January weather - warm, sunny skies (and a heated pool, which these kiddos took advantage of!)

Not a bad way to start off the year!  Excited for what 2024 will bring and all the many adventures ahead.

Sweet time with Grammy and Gran Gran

Christmas is such a special time with little ones, and it's even more fun with grandparents!  Grammy and Gran Gran made the long trek from Texas to celebrate Christmas with us (and Mother sucked it up despite a cold or flu so she wouldn't miss a thing - poor gal!)

Christmas Eve Eve (side note: I said this a few times on the 23rd and it drove JB crazy!! He would roll his eyes and say "no one calls it that, MOM!".  What in the world, is he a tween now???) we visited the Botanical Gardens for their nighttime lights show.  Amazing!

We roasted S'mores and enjoyed the fire (as it was quite chilly in the evening!)

On actual Christmas Eve we enjoyed the wonderful breakfast buffet at the Club, our one and only visit with Santa this year, and then lots of outdoor time before a beautiful Church service.

Most all of the trip we spent outdoors (fortunately the weather cooperated!)  Lots of bird watching, playing with new toys, fishing and casting, walking.  We loved it!

They made sure we were prepared for the quarterfinal game on New Year's Day, too.  New Texas gear for us all!

The day before they left we got to celebrate Daddy's 82nd birthday!!  He wanted to enjoy a breakfast at Clary's in Savannah and some time on the water.  That evening we took him out to a nice dinner and closed out a wonderful week.

So thankful these two were here to celebrate our first Christmas in the new home!
