Mid-January, in pick up line, one of my favorite teachers put Wesley in the car and said (with a big smile on her face) "did you hear?? It's going to SNOW next week!! EEEK!" At that time it was sunny, around 60 degrees, and I didn't think much about it. However, ever day the forecast showed a greater and greater chance for snow...and then....IT SNOWED. And not just a little bit, but several inches on the ground! What in the world??
The night before the big snowfall we put Wesley to bed in tears, as it only looked like sleet outside and he kept crying "now I'll never see snow! Until I'm a grown up and then I won't care because I won't want to play!!". He was so, so upset. I woke up around 3AM, peeked outside, saw the ground covered in white and felt so excited for the kids. They were static when they woke up!
And then it came time to PLAY. They played all day. And all the next day. And all the next day. They were out of school for three whole days, and it took nearly a week for all the snow to melt (despite the fact that the next week's temps were already in the 60s/70s again.) We're not used to snow (or really any cold weather) so had to make do with layers of sweats, mismatched gloves, and boogie boards. No one seemed to care. Other than my washing machine, which saw near constant usage :)
I know we grumbled about the days off and wet clothes everywhere, but it was truly a magical week and the Ford looked beautiful all covered in white.
