St. Patrick's Day Fun in Dublin!

Nothing like March month in Dublin, Georgia! Especially when the city had to forgo St. Patrick's Day festivities for the past two years due to COVID.  Everyone was ready to get out and celebrate, and the whole town was a sea of green every day.

We started with Pig in the Park, the event that ended the festivities for 2020 (as the pandemic struck).  This year we took the boys and they loved the rides and sweets.

We missed the gala (this year more casual and outside), and I also didn't get pictures of the other events, like the Joint Civic Luncheon (which was a GREAT event, with Sandra Stanley as the speaker). 

Our office had a lot of fun events, and pretty much kept green, sugary items for the entire month.  

On "Super Saturday" we hit up the parade (with Grammy and Gran Gran in tow!) and enjoyed lots (and lots and lots) of floats while dealing with intermittent drizzle.

I'm sure going to miss all the green around here!  It's a really fun part of the year and one of my favorite things about our little town.  Happy St. Patrick's Day Month!

Couple of Basketball Players in the Fam!

We dipped our toes into team sports this year with Upward Basketball.  This is Christian-based program that strives to teach the game in a loving, encouraging and spiritual environment.  What a great experience!  

Both Maryn and JB participated, on different teams and age groups (which meant we spent 2 nights a week up at the First Nazarene gym!)  We're so proud of how much they learned in a short time!  And, most importantly, enjoyed themselves out on the court.  

Bless him, Wesley wanted to get on the court so badly and be a part of the team!  He has a couple of more years before he can join the Kindergarten group.

One of the best parts of the program included the friends and families that are part of the group. During games the littler ones would play together, even during games the girls would hug and talk (even when on opposing teams!)  Such a sweet environment.

Great job, kiddos!

Dear Sirs and Fair Maidens

Ah, Medieval Times, a classic childhood adventure. James had never been, but when I saw one on our Texas trip I immediately remembered the fun and booked us a dinner at the one in Atlanta.  The other Sassers joined us for the fun - and we had FUN.

The kiddos were quite overwhelmed with all they encountered walking in.  You go from wandering the mall to everyone in full costume speaking in "my kind sir" and "my fair maiden".  Many adults (without kiddos) in costumes made for a good people-watching crowd. 

We still had to wear masks, which just about everyone is over.  But we're rule followers, so we did. 

 

We finally got through to our seats, bought the kids some swords and ribbons (quite the racket, just like Disney!), and they started the show and meal.  

Our knight, the green knight, was not too bad on the eyes but couldn't stay on his horse, nor complete any tricks, or fight worth a flip.  But we still cheered him on every chance we got.

I am so impressed with the kids: they paid attention and got really into the story and events! (The acoustics were terrible so the adults struggled to hear and understand). At the end the kids all became concerned someone would actually die (JB said "don't kill them!!" and Wesley said "I could easiwy kill dem with my sword").  Everyone cheered when the queen granted mercy to the knights.

What a fun time with the Sasser clan!  We had a blast and are looking forward to another adventure soon.

1st Side note:  we stayed at an Embassy Suites that night so the kids could enjoy a hotel and we wouldn't have to drive. Between the lobby, breakfast buffet and indoor pool, the kids thought we were living the life!  JB yelled as we walked in "y'all, this is FANCY!!!" We have got to get these kids out more, ha :)

Second side note:  after we left the hotel, we stopped by the other Sasser's house for some play time and to snuggle this littlest cousin - who is growing too fast!!!

Daddy Daughter Date

Maryn has been begging for a date with her Daddy!  Well, and her friends and their daddies, too, because Miss Social Butterfly needs her entourage.  Maryn planned it all out: fancy dress, pictures, Deanos and then Baskin Robbins.  Of course, the Mamas got in on it, too :)

These three girls make such a good little squad.  I am so thankful for neighbors, yards that connect, and these precious days where they build their friendships. 

And don't the Daddies look so handsome, too.  They were such good spots and so sweet with their little girls.  

Mamarazzi was sure to capture all the precious moments of these two (complete look-alikes) together. 

We had to plead, but the guys remembered to take photos at the dinner.   So glad they had a good time!

These are the sweet memories that the girls will cherish for a lifetime!

Quick side note:  Cousin Katelyn was in town for the weekend, and she got in on all the fun. She did Maryn's make up for the event.  Maryn was insistent on "the eyelash stuff"  :)
