God Bless Baby Maryn

Sunday marked a very important day in Maryn Elizabeth's life, as we presented her for Baptism and committed to an important responsibility that we have as her parents: to nurture her in Christ's holy Church, that by our teaching and example she may be guided to accept God's grace for herself, to profess her faith openly, and to lead a Christian life.

Both sets of Grandparents, Maryn's Great Aunt Wyllene, and Miss Barbara attended the service at our new church, with Rev. Bob performing the baptism.

We chose the early, traditional service where Rev. Bob, a retired pastor, preaches and runs a service with a bit of an older crowd.

They told us multiple times how delighted they were to have a baptism since it had been a while for their smaller service. The entire congregation showed so much love and support.

As I believe our great God has a sense of humor, I'm sure even He chuckled as Big Brother JB did his very best to distract from his Sissy's special moment. He played with my hair up at the alter, asked (loudly) to hold my hand as I affirmed our vows, stuck his tongue out during pictures, and grabbed the microphone to sing Old MacDonald.

He also cheered, clapped and yelled "YEA!" after the Affirmation of Faith, which is fairly appropriate when you think of how powerful it is. :)

Our children - our entire family - are the most important gift and blessing that we've been given on this earth.

We're so thankful for such a beautiful day for Maryn (with beautiful pictures to remember it by - thank you Gran Gran!)

May God bless you, sweet daughter of ours!

Brothers and sisters in Christ:
Through the Sacrament of Baptism
we are initiated into Christ's holy Church.
We are incorporated into God's mighty acts of salvation
and given new birth through water and the Spirit.
All this is God's gift, offered to us without price.
